Department of Laboratory Medicine at Saifee Hospital is a vibrant, multifaceted department with a core mission of patient care. The Department offers a comprehensive range of Pathology services which are fully supported by Consultant grade-staff.
The key service objective is to provide accurate and reliable test results, interpret and report analytical results with appropriate attention to quality, accuracy and efficiently in a timely manner. We also provide advice on any further investigations to support diagnosis and management of patients.
The Quality of the Department is based upon International Standards ISO 15189:2012

We provide comprehensive haematology services for haemato, coagulation and malignancies and analysis of blood and bone marrow specimen.
The department has XN 1000, XNL550, Fully automated Coagulation analyser-Stago ICompact, TEGanalyser.
The department is equipped with fully automated sate of art analyzers such as Architect c 8000, Olympus AU 480, Radiometer ABL 800, Roche Cardiac reader, D 10 Biorad HPLC analyser, Sebia Hydrasis -Electrophoretic instrument.
The department is equipped with Architect i2000 , Vidas. We provide results for special chemistries and tumour markers, Immunoflorescence assays, Genearray testing for Food intolerance and Other Allergy screening panels, Toxicology screening.
Tests in Bacteriology, Mycology and Mycobacteriology by Conventional and Automated methods.
Bact alert Blood Culture System, Vitek 2 and Biofire instruments are in our department.
Serology conducts screening and confinnatory tests for infectious diseases.
State of art, fully automated molecular Biology laboratory, with specialized tests tnenu and minimum TAT. Tests- NAT, HBV-Viral Load, HCV-Viral Load and Genotype, HLA B27, Monsoon PCR, Malaria PCR, Dengue PCR and Chikungunya PCR.
The department conducts Macroscopic and Microscopic analysis of body fluids.
The department of Surgical Pathology at Saifee Hospital handles large volumes of Biopsy specimens as well as large operated specimens including bone specimens. Cytology service is also rendered which include Fluid cytology, Fine needle aspirate cytology ( FNAC) and liquid based Pap smears (Screening for Ca cervix). An intra-operative consultation service (Frozen section service) is very active. The Immunochemistry (IHC) has become an integral part of surgical pathology. The department has a fully automatic Ventana stainer for IHC with about 125 antibodies.
The Blood bank at Saifee hospital is a moden1 state of art NABH Accreditated facility offering Blood Component Therapy. It is licenced by CDSCO for preparation and supply of blood components from whole human blood in addition to single donor platelet preparation and leucocytes collection by Apheresis procedures. Blood bank provides 24 x 7 services and 100% voluntary blood collection and testing facilities that follows proper systems to ensure good quality of blood by NAT Testing. We provide the following facilities: Whole blood, Packed red cells, Saline washed red cells, Fresh frozen plasma, Random Platelet concentrate, Cryoprecipitate, Luco depleted single donor platelet by Platelet pheresis, Leucocytes by Leukopheresis.
