Dr. Maheboob Basade is a highly respected Medical Oncologist with over 28 years of experience in cancer care and stem cell transplantation. He holds leadership roles in the Department of Medical Oncology at Saifee Hospital, Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre, and Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital, Mumbai.
He graduated with an MBBS and MD (Paediatrics), and pursued advanced fellowship training in haematology and oncology, including international fellowships at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (USA), The New York Hospital – Cornell Medical Centre (USA), and The Royal Marsden NHS Trust Hospital (UK). He was among a select group chosen globally for the Young Medical Oncologist Fellowship by the European Society of Medical Oncology.
Dr. Basade has played a pivotal role in establishing stem cell and bone marrow transplantation units in India and has been instrumental in pioneering several first-of-its- kind procedures, such as unrelated umbilical cord blood transplantation in thalassemia and bone marrow transplantation in sickle cell disease. He is also actively involved in clinical research, including phase II/III trials, and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Cancer Pharmacogenomics.
He is a recognized teacher for DNB Medical Oncology and serves in leadership positions in national and international oncology societies
