- The first Deafness Camp in India was held in Bhavnagar ( Gujarat ) in 1963.
- The first Deafness Camp in Maharashtra was held in Pune in 1965.
- The first Deafness Clinic at the V.S. Hospital was established in Ahmedabad in 1963.
- The first Deafness Clinic at the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad was established in 1963.
- The first Deafness Clinic at the S.S.G. Hospital in Baroda was established in 1963.
- In addition, Dr. A. B. R. Desai was the first surgeon to hold many Deafness Camps all over India including Calcutta , Ludhiana , Jamnagar & Rajkot.
- He was in charge of a separate Deafness Clinic at Nanavati, Bhatia, Jaslok & Bombay Hospitals in Bombay.
